Olympus E-30 + 14-54 f2.8-3.5 mk2 mini Review.

Olympus E-30 + 14-54 f2.8-3.5 mk2 is really awesome..it share most of E-3 capability and a better sensor!!!

The pop art filter is really a welcome!! i know i said it many time but the pop art filter really rocks!!!

The pic below come straight out from the Olympus E-30. I use the soft focus pop art filter..nice.. say bye bye to adobe photoshop...

Here is the iso 3200 sample pic from the Olympus E-30

nice rite..clean iso 3200.. i would say very usable for 4R print..

Olympus E-620 Preview

Today 2nd Olympus E System gathering gave us a chance to look at the E-620 preview..!!

The size of E620 is somewhat similar to E420. The new E620+battery grip is a perfect combination as i am able to grip it firmly with my hand minus the heavy weight!

and it share most the feature that E-30 have.. another welcome addition is unlike the e420 the new Olympus E620 have the IS (image stabiliser) IS 1,2 and 3. The E620 also have the built in pop art filter..nice....

and the build quality is worth mentioning too..it is very solid..unlike the sony alpha a350 and a200 it do feel solid and sturdy..

the pic above show e620 with the zuiko 25mm f2.8 pancake and also together with the battery grip..

Kudos to Olympus for making such nice photos..

Leica DLux 4 case for my Panasonic LX3

New case for my LX3... This is actually the original case for Leica Dlux4 which is another reincarnation of panasonic LX3..The case is made of leather and it fits perfectly the LX3. However you cant use the original neck strap cause the case will not provide enough space. Therefore i use the original hand strap that come together with the leather casing...

This case is really a beauty..a must get for all LX3 owners..

External Flash for DMC-LX3

I was looking high and low for the external flash for my DMC-LX3 and then an idea come up...why not use my Olympus FL-36R!! Then i try to attached to my LX3 hoping it would work...and voila..not only did it work..it also have AUTO TTL function!!!

I will not hesitate to use this combo for wedding events!!

How to take self potrait ...

To take self potrait is not so hard..all you need is :-

1. A tripod (manfrotto 190xprob)
2. A light stand + brolly
3. Flash FL-50R
4. A remote trigger to trigger the slr(RM-1)
5. And of course a SLR with atriculate LCD so you can do the framing easily with it..and live view is a must too in this case..and Olympus E-3 meet all the specificiation!!!

You can place the brolly 45 degree above your head from either left or right and then place the Olympus E-3 in the middle. The wireless trigger is a bless, you do not need external wireless flash trigger to work. And with RM-1 you can snap right away..

This is a sample of self potrait i have taken.. :)

Focus Chart test for Olympus E3 + Leica 25mm f1.4

I did a test on Olympus E-3 and the Leica D Summilux 25mm f1.4 after the E3 firmware upgrade from v1.2 to v1.3

It mention that the firmware upgrade will improve the AF for f2.0 lens and below.

There fore i did a test to see if the AF did improve or not and to my finding..yes it is improved over the previous firmware. I do get more accurate focus lock at f1.4 as compare to previous firmware..

Howto Clean Olympus E-3 Sensor

Yes i know Olympus E-3 got SSWF to get rid of the dust..but shit happen...and dust to find their ways to the sensor. To get rid of the dust in CCD you can use this sensor Swab.

Very easy just set your E-3 to cleaning mode and make sure you have enuff battery juice..

then use the sensor swab to swipe across the sensor.

Thats it!!

My first iso3200 pic!!

Nah not really my first iso3200 pic but this is the first pic that i took after upgrade my Olympus E-3 firmware to v1.3

The C-AF certainly improve.. it give you more acurate focus lock on static object..yet to test on moving object..

as for the ability to use arrow key to change focus point that is a welcome upgrade..

i do feel that they did something on the iso3200 IQ..or perhaps it was me dreaming..

Tien Hou Temple

Today i load my EVIL lens the Leica 25mm f1.4 and head to Tien Hou Temple to see how the lens perform in low light..

Here is the verdict:-

1. The Leica 25mm f1.4 focus well with Olympus E-3 under low light. As you can see from the pics above.

2. Shooting at f1.4 and still give sharp pictures.

3. ISO400 is sufficient for the night scene. There is no need to pump the ISO to 1600 or 3200.

4. The focal length is just nice.
