VBscript to kill 2 or more process in windows 2003

Just to share a sample script to kill multiple process in your windows 2000, XP or Vista

Option Explicit
Dim objWMIService, objProcess, colProcess
Dim xComputer, xProcessKill ,xProcessKill2,xProcessKill3
xComputer = "."
xProcessKill = "'taskmgr.exe'"
xProcessKill2 = "'notepad.exe'"
xProcessKill3 = "'iexplore.exe'"

Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" _
& xComputer & "\root\cimv2")

Set colProcess = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = " & xProcessKill)
For Each objProcess in colProcess
objProcess.Terminate()
Next

Set colProcess = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = " & xProcessKill2)
For Each objProcess in colProcess
objProcess.Terminate()
Next

Set colProcess = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = " & xProcessKill3)
For Each objProcess in colProcess
objProcess.Terminate()

VBScript to delete a folder from user %APPDATA%

I have been searching high and low in google for some ready vbscript to delete a folder from the user %appdata%

When you search microsoft site or most site will return you with this code shown below.The problem with the ussual code below is you need to hard code the location C:\My Documents\Username\Application Data\foldername in your script and if you deploy this via GPO the username will be different for each user!! :-

Set colFolders = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Directory where Name = 'C:\\My Documents\\Username\\Application Data\\foldername'")
For Each objFolder in colFolders
errResults = objFolder.Delete
Next

The worst part is the script above does not allow you to put in the variable
%APPDATA%

So i was not satisfied..i was thinking what the f*rk Vbscript is suppose to help us.not make our life difficult.. so i rewrite it..

Dim objFSO, copyFile, vSystemDrive
Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
vAPPDATA = WshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%APPDATA%")
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
objFSO.DeleteFolder(vAPPDATA & "\FolderName")

Yes you need to use the code below in order to use the variable %APPDATA%
vAPPDATA = WshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%APPDATA%")

or another alternate way of doing it is to grab the explorer.exe process to look for the username

strComputer = "."
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" _
& strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
Set colProcessList = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = 'explorer.exe'")
For Each objProcess in colProcessList
colProperties = objProcess.GetOwner(strUserName)
Next

dim filesys
set filesys=CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
filesys.DeleteFolder("C:\My documents\" & strUserName & "\Application Data\FolderName")

So is really up to you to choose your way of scripting..the worst is i come across forum which write 100 over line of codes to do the similar task..their boss should just fire them.!!!

Sony A350 vs Olympus E520 ISO 800

A lot of fanboy always claim the bigger the sensor, the noise level and image quality will be better. Well is this claim true? Lets find out.

Here is an image taken using

camera: Sony A350.
aperture: f3.5
shutter speed: 1/125
iso:800
100% crop

if your double click on the image below to view at 100% crop you will notice the noise level is very high for a larger sensor as compare to a 4/3 sensor. The noise pattern which has heavy chroma noise is also very disturbing.

camera: Sony A350.
aperture: f7.1
shutter speed: 1/100
iso:800
100% crop

from the picture below is it my eye is playing trick on me cause i found some sort of banding along side the horrible noise.

camera: Olympus E520
aperture: f3.5
shutter speed: 1/50
iso:800
100% crop

When you double click on the pics below you will notice there is fine grain type of noise where all the detail is still there. At least there is no color blot everywhere as a result of heavy noise filtering at work.

camera: Olympus E520
aperture: f5.6
shutter speed: 1/160
iso:800
100% crop

well given the right exposure you hardly get noise :)

From the two photos above at 100% crop do you think that larger sensor means lower noise and better Image Quality? Well at least not from my point of view.

So the grass is not always greener over the other side..:)

Birding Guide with Zuiko Digital 70-300

All the photos below taken using Olympus E-3 and Zuiko 70-300.

Most of the time i use natural color +1 sharpness

Iso is a tricky part as u need fast shutter speed to have sharp picture..so i dont hesitate to use up to iso 1000

locating the birds are hell of a difficult thing to do..

i use the following method:-

1. listen to the bird sound to hear the direction of the bird.
2. then try to locate them visually..or can use your viewfinder cause the magnification helps.
3. slowly try to walk as close as possible to them and snipe away!!
