10 reason why SONY NEX mirrorless camera SUCKS!!!

" As expected, Sony has unveiled the NEX-3 and NEX-5 mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The two cameras are both built around the 14.6 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor announced at the PMA 2010 exhibition in February and the new, mirrorless E-mount. Both offer high-resolution tilt/flip screens, fast continuous shooting and HD video capture, with 720p from the NEX-3 and 1080i, AVCHD from the NEX-5. Also announced are three E-mount lenses: a 16mm F2.8 pancake, offering a 24mm equivalent field-of-view, a standard 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 stabilized kit zoom, with a 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 stabilized superzoom to follow. We've been using both NEXs for a while and have delved beyond the raw specifications to prepare hands-on previews of both models. "

Here is 10 reason why the new sony NEX mirrorless camera sucks big time..

1. cannot put larger flash..and use propriety port...so cannot mount their bigger dslr flash. no flash hotshoe..
2. cannot AF when mount with existing sony lens even with an adapter
3. is the only camera where the lens bigger than the body. i am talking about E mount lens. not proportional and i doubt the weight distribution is even with lens mounted on it.
4. no build in body IS.
5. panorama mode got lot of artifacts according to cnet review
6. Across most of the frame (especially the corners of course), softness and chromatic aberration are appalling (based on imaging resource sample image)
7. no control dial to switch setting fast.. like change shutter speed or aperture
8. ugly
9. i dont see any slot for electronic viewfinder..
10. no build in camera raw editing like ep1 ep2 and epl1

Before one judges if something sucks or not, one should weigh the advantages against the disadvantages.

The advantages as I see it:

1. Best sensor yet on any EVIL camera till now. (based on IR review)
2. Best LCD yet ...
3. Least expensive yet ...
4. Best video yet ...

Apart from that, in your list only 4, 6 and 7 matter to me. 6 can be fixed if they make better primes in the future. 7 can be fixed by firmware updates.

Love the list.

Yes, the new Sony has a nice sensor, but some of the things that DO suck about it are definite show stoppers (will never buy until they are addressed).

No EVF
No in-body stabilization (why!?)
Poor IQ (CA and softness)

I need to know if the in-camera editing is still NOT available on the camera... TO leave that out doesn'T make sence.. Snory told me on the phone that it does not have this feature ... Is that correct?

More to the point, the lust feature of the mirrorless cam is that they do video with interchangeable lenses.

Sony's camera produces the best video quality in this category, in the worst format for creative editing (inter frame compression of mp4 and avchd) and offers the most limited controls of video settings.

But unlike the epl1 with its total control (though not DURING recording) of video, the NEX have a power adapter for external power source.

I WANT to get one of these babies right now! But none of them are perfect yet, they all miss some point of power source, control, quality, price. Even a hacked gf1 will cost a grand and the image quality of the video really isn't that great upon closer inspection.

As an owner of Nex-5, I find it surprisingly very useful. It replace my horizon 35 camera I can snap in the street (it has it problems with moving objects (I wish that they will save the source of the images beside the sweep final)). the pancake lens is great light and very quick responsive, I Have placed lens from both Canon and Nikon on it and it was great to shot with them. regarding the design I fine it very comfortable to move the weight to the lenses in case of zoom heave lenses. The are plenty of wide small lenses out there that will keep is slim and balanced. It really matter more what you photograph and for me as a street photos it is great to carry such a tiny camera and edit all the raw files on my laptop later. The flash tigers slave unit with no problems. the digital dial and menu make sense when you use it for a few days. the quick button for video is actually useful. I saw they will release a video camera version with more controls. but for price and results this is a great deal for me. http://www.flickr.com/photos/eraneran/

Wow ... right from the beginning, it already seemed to be a biased opinion of the writer. At the end of the review, I more than confirmed that.

A good review should be unbiased, weighing the pros and cons. Some of the cons listed weren't even first-hand experience of the writer although he claimed to have used the NEX for a period of time.

Please do not mislead others.

i´ve own this camera for about 5 moths, and i can say that this camera is excellent, well priced, well updated (via firmware) and the overal quality of the photo-video is really amazing. All depends on what you are looking for. If you are a pro fashion fotographeror something, you´ll know that you need some of the marks 2 or 3, that cost thousands. I look for great quality image with no bulky, thats the reason for getting the nex instead of the nikon d3100, same price, but the nikon has minor quality on still and video on a very bulky non solid body, so, i think that you allways have to compare all the important things that you are looking for in a good camera, because reviews doesn´t do a good job with that little details that you need to feel for yourself.
