Sony A350 vs Olympus E520 ISO 800

A lot of fanboy always claim the bigger the sensor, the noise level and image quality will be better. Well is this claim true? Lets find out.

Here is an image taken using

camera: Sony A350.
aperture: f3.5
shutter speed: 1/125
iso:800
100% crop

if your double click on the image below to view at 100% crop you will notice the noise level is very high for a larger sensor as compare to a 4/3 sensor. The noise pattern which has heavy chroma noise is also very disturbing.

camera: Sony A350.
aperture: f7.1
shutter speed: 1/100
iso:800
100% crop

from the picture below is it my eye is playing trick on me cause i found some sort of banding along side the horrible noise.

camera: Olympus E520
aperture: f3.5
shutter speed: 1/50
iso:800
100% crop

When you double click on the pics below you will notice there is fine grain type of noise where all the detail is still there. At least there is no color blot everywhere as a result of heavy noise filtering at work.

camera: Olympus E520
aperture: f5.6
shutter speed: 1/160
iso:800
100% crop

well given the right exposure you hardly get noise :)

From the two photos above at 100% crop do you think that larger sensor means lower noise and better Image Quality? Well at least not from my point of view.

So the grass is not always greener over the other side..:)

stupid slava..the main reason i post this up is to show you that bigger sensor does not mean lower noise as you fanboy always claim to be..saying 4/3 sensor is noisy due to smaller sensor just does not make any sense..come on 14 megapizel and 10 megapixel does not play any difference here..are your trying to say a 14 mepixel full frame sensor is going to be noisier than a 10 megapixel 4/3 sensor..please go up and go back to where you belong..which is the kindergarden..

and asking me to compare a crop factor slr with FF is just plain stupid..is not even an apple to apple comparison..i need not say more ..moron like you will never understand..
